America’s offshore resources in the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) are vital to this country’s energy security and economic vitality. As a result, HAPL and IPAA are hosting an in-depth program to discuss the myriad of issues pertaining to oil and gas operations in the offshore, particularly focusing on resources in the OCS.

The program will feature views from both major and independent operators, a government agency and a current legislative update provided by IPAA.

The event will take place on November 13 at Westin Galleria Hotel, beginning at 2:00 p.m. This program is in conjunction with HAPL’s Annual Offshore Social which will also be held immediately afterwards at the Westin Galleria Houston Hotel. Wedding these two events will enhance the broad based participation from the Offshore Industry – bringing together engineers, geologists, lawyers, landmen and lawmakers under one roof.

The Offshore Social will provide a great opportunity for networking at one of Houston premiere venues – The Westin Galleria Houston Hotel. The hotel intends to block off a number of rooms at a special rate for out-of-town participants, and will also provide valet parking. This will be a very worthwhile and enjoyable experience for those working in the Offshore Industry.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Designed for the landman, the lease and title analyst and the division order analyst, this workshop will take a look at the requirements found in typical title opinions, and discuss the types of documents needed in order to fully satisfy these requirements. We will cover lease amendments and extensions, affidavits, ratifications, releases, subordinations, quitclaim deeds, stipulations of interest, probate proceedings, powers of attorney, tax certificates and more. Examples of the types of forms to use in each situation will be provided, with suggestions as to the correct way to prepare each one. Attendees are encouraged to bring the details of actual curative issues for discussion.

In conjunction with the opening day of Summer NAPE, the HAPL 8th Annual Permian Social will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008. This event has historically been well attended by a turnout of several hundred oil and gas professionals. The success of this Social is entirely dependent upon the generosity of companies and individuals working the Permian.

We’ve made some significant changes to this summertime happening which are important to note:

1. The Social will be held in the beautiful offices of Torch Energy Advisors which is located on the 14th floor of the same building as Massa’s Seafood Restaurant. In addition to housing a world class collection of Texas history, Torch’s office will provide more room for socializing and networking. If you have not visited Torch’s office, I would suggest that you click on the following link http://www.teai.com/ and then click on “Visit the Gallery” located in the bottom right of the home page. All of the noted pieces in the collection are on display in Torch’s office.

2. The time of the Social has been moved up to 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. (from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). These hours should coincide better with the shutting down of NAPE on Wednesday and allow folks to leave for dinner at a reasonable time.

3. Please note the Sponsor Levels sheet. Platinum is now $2000 or more and includes the distinction of having a company’s name or logo carved into one of two ICE SCULPTURES to be on display at the Social. These sculptures will provide a distinctive and classy way of promoting one’s company. These sculptures will be sold on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis to the first two companies from which a platinum level donation is received by a committee member.

4. Food and refreshments will again be provided by Massa’s Seafood. The only change here is that Massa’s will be bringing the food and drink upstairs to Torch’s office.
