If you make a reservation, pay for it, and later decide to cancel it before the reservation deadline, you can apply for a refund through the HAPL Office.   We must receive your request to cancel your registration in writing by email at hapl@hapl.org or fax at  713-622-3723.  You will receive the total amount charged minus a $5.00 credit card processing fee.  The deadline for this event is Thursday, March 31st @ 5:00 p.m.

When you request a refund, include the name and date of the event, and how much you paid.  Refunds cannot be made for reservations that were paid for, but not cancelled before the reservations deadline. When that happens, you are considered a no-show.
 
 
All pre-registered members/guests for this event that have not prepaid and do not attend will be billed as a no-show.

Mark K. Miller is a native of North Carolina and obtained his B.A. from the University of South Carolina in 1980. He currently resides in Lafayette, Louisiana.  He began his career in the petroleum landman business in 1981 after leaving John E. Chance and Associates as an offshore instrument man. Mr. Miller obtained his Certified Professional Landman’s (CPL) certification in 1987 and then his Environmental Site Assessor (ESA) certification in 1991.  In 1992, he co-authored a field manual for the ESA curriculum for the American Association of Petroleum Landmen (AAPL).   Mr. Miller jointly taught the ESA class at AAPL headquarters in 1992 and 1993. In 1989, he co-authored the Louisiana Courthouse Directory – an informational book for working Field Landmen and Attorneys on the 64 Parishes’ of Louisiana. 


Mr. Miller founded Merlin Oil & Gas, Inc. in 1986 with oil & gas interest, offshore and onshore in the Gulf Coast Region.  Mr. Miller runs Merlin Oil & Gas with producing assets onshore in the Gulf Coast Region.  Merlin along with its’ partners, have created 3-D seismic shoots and participated in the drilling development of the projects. Merlin also has a current oil & gas leasehold in North Carolina.


Mr. Miller currently serves on the Board of the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association (LOGA), formerly on the AAPL Legislative Update Committee.  Mr. Miller serves on the Foundation Board at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL).  He is also on the Dean’s Advisory council for the ULL College of Business.  Mr. Miller has served as President of the Lafayette Association of Petroleum Landmen.


Mr. Miller is currently Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), 2015-2017, he served as the Vice-Chairman, 2013-2015.  IPAA is a national lobbying group for the independent oil & gas operators, with a membership of over 25,000 members.
