The Houston Association of Professional Landmen Student Scholarship Fund is organized to recognize personal accomplishments, recognize academic achievement, and to aid the children of HAPL members in pursuing higher education through monetary contributions to first semester tuition.
High School Student Applicants
Applicant must be a graduating senior with a parent who has been an Active, Life, or Honorary Life member of the HAPL eligible to vote for the last three consecutive years (dues current). Note: If the parent has been transferred to Houston within the last three years, said parent should be a member of the HAPL for a minimum of six months and provide proof of membership of the local organization from which they were transferred.
Students may only apply if they do not anticipate a full scholarship from a college or university or a full grant from other sources.
Only one scholarship will be awarded per student.
Any member of the Houston Association of Professional Landmen, who is the parent of a prospective applicant, may not participate on the Scholarship Committee. The amount of each scholarship will be $1,000.00.
College Student Applicants
You must be currently enrolled in an AAPL approved Petroleum Land Management or Energy Management Program. Applicants must provide a current copy of their college transcript with the application and the two letters of recommendation.
Students attending college under a full Scholarship from a college or university or a full grant from other sources will not be eligible for this scholarship program.
Scholarship amount will be no less than $1,000.00.
Application and Deadline
Fully completed scholarship applications, transcripts (if required) and letters of recommendation are due at the HAPL offices located at 800 Bering Dr., Ste. 120, Houston, TX 77057 or faxed to (713) 622-3723 on or before April 1st. All applicants will be asked to furnish a picture in a jpeg format for our records.
Recipients will be encouraged to attend the Excellence in Education luncheon sponsored by the HAPL in May, where they will be introduced and awarded a certificate commemorating their scholarship award.
Scholarship payment will be made prior to the Fall semester after the HAPL receives proof of enrollment in the college or university of their choice. Checks will be made payable to the institution and to scholarship recipient. Should a student fail to provide such proof of enrollment by October 1st, an alternate student will be awarded the scholarship.
Each year at the Tribute to Education and Scholarship Luncheon, HAPL awards scholarships to high school seniors of HAPL members and college students enrolled in an AAPL accredited energy management program. This year’s luncheon will be held on May 17, 2012 at the Petroleum Club.
As a member of HAPL, you have the opportunity to support our scholarship program through sponsorship. Without your support, HAPL would not be able to continually award generous scholarships to deserving students. These students are the future of our profession. Please send in your sponsorship as soon as possible. Every little bit counts. Thank you for your support.
