The 2026 HAPL Permian Landman of the Year Award Recipient will be honored at this year's Permian Social on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at The Heights Social. The purpose of this award is to recognize an outstanding Permian Landman that has contributed to either the education/mentoring of other landmen, worked on a significant Permian divestiture/acquisition/lease play/project or has contributed to the landman profession overall.


DEADLINE TO NOMINATE IS FRIDAY, AUGUST 28TH.

Criteria: 

1. Must have worked (or currently works) the Permian Basin (Texas or New Mexico) for 10+ years. 
2. Nominees MUST have a "Landman" or related title. 
3. Nominees must have contributed to either the education/mentoring of other landmen, worked on a significant Permian divestiture/acquisition/lease play/project or has contributed to the landman profession. 
4. Nominators must be able to attest to the nominee's overall personal character. 
5. It is preferred that the nominee be able to attend the Permian Social at Heights Social on September 17, 2026 in order to receive their award.

FAQ's: 

• Nominees are not required to work for an operator. Independent, non-operator and service landmen are welcome. 
• Nominees can be surface or subsurface landmen. 
• Must be a TRUE landman. This award is not meant to honor title attorneys, roles in Land Admin, etc.
• A managerial or supervisor title/position is NOT required. 
• Nominee can be based out of any location as long as they have or do work the Permian Basin. 
• The Permian Basin encompasses both Texas and New Mexico assets.
