The Houston Association of Professional Landmen Tribute to Education awards was created to recognize teachers in Houston Area who have gone above and beyond in their respective fields to promote education, creativity, self-discipline and motivation to the hundreds of students to whom they have touched during their tenure as an educator.

Landmen who are Active, Life or Honorary Life members of HAPL and eligible to vote for the last three consecutive years (dues current).   If the HAPL member has been transferred to Houston within the last three years, said Landman should be a member of HAPL for a minimum of six months and provide proof of membership of the local organization from which they were transferred.

Teachers can work in private or public school environments.  Teachers must be secondary education level (Junior, Middle or High School).  Elementary school teachers who work in specialized areas (all sorts of special needs) will be eligible.  Teachers can be related to nominating Landman.   No limitation of subjects taught by teachers.  Teacher nominations can be made on a yearly basis; however, only one award will be given per teacher.

Landman must complete a nomination form and file by the deadline for their nominee to be considered.  All nominations are held in strictest confidence.  No landman will be advised of winners in advance.

Online applications need to be filled out and sent in by March 17th.  Landmen are encouraged to attend the Tribute to Education luncheon sponsored by HAPL in May, where the recipients of this award will be introduced and presented with their awards.

Each year at the Tribute to Education and Scholarship Luncheon, HAPL awards scholarships to high school seniors of HAPL members and college students enrolled in an AAPL-accredited energy management program.  This year’s luncheon will be held at the Petroleum Club at 1201 Louisiana (top floor).

As a member of HAPL, you have the opportunity to support our scholarship program through sponsorship.  Without your support, HAPL would not be able to continually award generous scholarships to deserving students nor acknowledge our teachers who work tirelessly to mold our children and grandchildren as future business leaders.

Please send in your sponsorship as soon as possible.  Every little bit counts.  Thank you for your support.
